The Jazz Gallery

Jazz is one of the most recognized contributions to the world of music that is clearly recognized as African American. This gallery is dedicated to honoring this music and also exploring musical principles from a visual perspective. How do you capture the feeling of this music?

In the work below, 'Jass Combo', Saint uses a mix of unusual materials and includes the frame as part of the art work. This piece toured South Carolina last year as part of the Palmetto Hands exhibit.

Our next work, 'Joined at the HIP', speaks to the colorful inner world of the musician in contrast to the hard grey world without. The two musicians are clearly in harmony.

One of Saint's Musical Spirits series 'Afro Blue' celebrates the Afro roots of Jazz. Going way back.

'Brass Section' uses color and line to show the harmony of this music. This original is part of a private collection in Memphis,TN.USA.

Saint's most famous character Rufus the Rooster shows up hear in 'Yardbird' a tribute to the style and music of Charlie 'Yardbird' Parker. The chickens might show up anywhere.
